So, you have started to get subscribers and you want to know when is the best time to post that video, to optimize the number of youtube views?
Well, here it is. After a study carried out by a New York-based multi-channel network Frederator YouTube Viewership tends to be at higher on the site during a weekday in the evening.
So we suggest posting videos in the afternoon on weekdays which gives YouTube ample time to index videos and deliver them to subscriber feeds. The NY Frederator advises posting between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
So what about the weekends I hear you cry? Well, it seems that on the weekend an early post time is more optimal for youtube views. A post-time between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. seems to be best, on Saturday and Sunday.
Is this just guesstimates or a real study? The study — which compiled data across NY Frederator’s 120 million monthly views from a total of 1,300 channels. So, to me, it seems a damn’d good guideline.
Wanna know which day is best to post on YouTube?
Due to the lower age of the demographics, the YouTube audience seem to be higher the closer we get to the weekend. Remember that most YouTube viewers are school-age children or young adults. Video views tend to grow Thursday, peaks on Saturday and then slow down on Sunday afternoon. It seems that the worst months are May and September, which, if we use the same logic (school-age children or young adults) kind of makes sense considering holidays and back-to-school.
