Once upon a time it used to be a mysterious magical being would pick lucky people that would become that so sort-for status of a “verfied” account. No one knew what went into the science of getting that blue badge, or was it just magic?
But now thanks to the instagram gods we can apply to become verified directly inside the app. Which is great news for anyone wanting to use instagram for business or instagramers that are being abused by fake accounts under thier name or brand (or for those of us who just want to boost about it in the pub on a Friday night).
So, how do you go about getting that blue badge for your instagram profile.
Here it is “How to get verified on Instagram”
1. Open your profile in Instagram
Find the profile button on the instagram app as in the image below.
2. Navigate to settings
Click the menu icon (three lines) in the top corner, followed by the settings icon (gear icon) at the bottom.
In older version of the instagram app you can find the icon under the followers count on your profile.
3. Find Request Verification in the menu.
You will need to scroll down quite a bit to find the Request Verification button. Once you have found it just click.
Note: Not everyone has the button yet, so be patient! Instagram is rolling it out worldwide. Make sure your app is updated to the latest version.
4. Fill out the form
5. Upload your photo ID.
Simply use your camera to take a photo of your government-issued ID and upload it to instagram.
Your ID must show
- Your full name
- Date of birth.
- Accepted official documents include driver’s license, passport, or national identification card.
- If you are a business account you can also use an “official business document,” like a tax filing, recent utility bill, or article of incorporation.
6. You are ready to get verified.
Submit the information above for instagram to review and simply wait for instagram to notify you.
There is no guarantee that instagram will give you the verfied status. The blue badge is reserved for celebrities, public figures, global brands, or entities representing the brand. Instagram quote that “review verification requests to confirm the authenticity, uniqueness, completeness and notability of each account.” And they also emphasized that it will focus on accounts that reach a large number of Instagram users — that is, accounts with a lot of followers.
